Pātra

Pātra: the people in the Gītā.

Pātra is the series about the people of the Gītā, who are met one at a time. Some speak, like Dhṛtarāṣṭra, Sañjaya and Arjuna. Some never say a word, like Hanumān on the banner. Some appear only as a name in Kṛṣṇa's long list of what he is, like Nārada, Prahlāda and Vyāsa. Each of its 12 stories takes one of them and shows the verse that names them.

To use it, choose a person from the grid, watch the short film, then read the verse in Sanskrit, transliteration and English. The count gives facts computed from the text, such as where the verse sits in the 700, who speaks it under the printed speaker labels, and where else a name appears. The paragraph called Going deeper sets the verse in its place in the chapter and links to the chapter and verse pages.

Every verse is free to read at getvani.app/gita, with no account needed. Under the grid the same people are listed as plain links, in number order, with the line each film opens on.
