Commentary

The wheel was named one verse ago — all beings turning, one who turns them. Krishna does not offer you an exit. He says go to the center. Śaraṇaṁ gaccha, and the first thing those words ask is direction; the second is completeness. Sarva-bhāvena — with everything you are, not the presentable part you'd show a guest. Arjuna has been offering pieces all along: his arguments, his grief, his questions about method. Here he is asked for the whole of it. So bring the fear too, and the resentment you have not admitted. They are part of everything you are.

Frequently asked

What does Bhagavad Gita Chapter 18 Verse 62 mean?
It means turn toward the Lord who is already seated within you, and turn with all of yourself. Krishna promises two things follow from his grace — the highest peace, and a home that does not end. Not peace as a reward for good behaviour, but peace as what remains when nothing is being held back.
What does 'tam eva sharanam gaccha sarva-bhavena bharata' mean?
Go to him alone for shelter, Arjuna, with your whole being. Sarva-bhāvena is the weight-bearing word. Not with your good intentions, not with your best hour — with everything, including the parts you would rather leave outside the door. Half a refuge is not a refuge.
Does surrender in this verse mean giving up on effort?
No. Krishna has just spent seventeen chapters telling Arjuna to fight. Śaraṇam does not stop the hand; it changes who the hand belongs to. You still draw the bow. What you release is the private ownership of the outcome and the loneliness of carrying it.
What is the 'everlasting home' Krishna speaks of here?
Sthānaṁ śāśvatam — a place that does not shift. Everything else you have stood on has moved: bodies age, roles end, certainties dissolve. Krishna is not describing a location you travel to. He is describing what stops moving in you when the whole of you has finally arrived somewhere.
