Frequently asked
What does Bhagavad Gita Chapter 10 Verse 1 mean?
Krishna tells Arjuna he will speak his highest word again — and gives the reason plainly. Not because Arjuna has mastered the last nine chapters, but because he takes joy in listening. Delight in the teaching is itself the qualification. Krishna adds that he speaks wanting nothing but Arjuna's good.
What is the meaning of bhuya eva mahabaho shrinu me paramam vachah?
Bhūyaḥ eva means once more, again. Krishna is repeating himself, and he says so openly. The supreme word is not withheld until you deserve it; it is spoken twice to the one still leaning in. Repetition here is not impatience. It is generosity toward a listener who keeps returning.
Why does Krishna say Arjuna is beloved or delighted in this verse?
The word is prīyamāṇāya — one who is being gladdened. Arjuna is not described as wise or worthy, only as glad. Love of the hearing opens what argument cannot. If a teaching gladdens you before you fully grasp it, that gladness is already the door swinging inward.
How does this verse begin the chapter on Krishna's glories?
It sets the tone before a single glory is named. What follows — Krishna as the sun, the ocean, the letter A, the silence among secrets — is not offered as proof or doctrine. It is offered to someone who enjoys it. Read the tenth chapter that way and it opens differently.

Commentary
Krishna has already said everything once. Chapter nine ended with the whole teaching laid out — and now he begins again, because Arjuna is still listening. That is the reason given, and it is startling: not that Arjuna has understood, not that he has earned it, but that he delights in the hearing. Prīyamāṇāya. One who is being gladdened. Krishna speaks the highest word a second time to a man who loves to hear it. This is how the deepest things arrive — not to the one who cracks them, but to the one who keeps coming back. Notice what you return to gladly. Something is speaking to it.
